Dorota Borowska – Czasami coś widaćDorota Borowska ‘At times you can see something’

otwarcie wystawy 26 lutego 2016 (piątek), godz. 18
wystawa czynna do 27 marca 2016

Ewelina Jarosz, krytyk sztuki

Seeing is not a continuous phenomenon. It is interrupted by darkness, sadness, time, distance, invisible mater, silence. Sometimes we see what we know, sometimes we see what we are thinking. Would we see anything if we were not thinking, if our mind was not touched by any kind of wisdom? Can we see anything at all objectively, that is, exactly the way this something is, and what would it be like if we were not here at all? Maybe nothing exists without our seeing? Maybe just seeing brings things to live?

The pictures which make part of the exposition at the Wozownia Art Gallery in Torun are separate entities, separate visions, a snap shot of impression, a depicturing of geometrical discovery, a parting of memory, an orthographic projection of a dream. They are all linked first off by the presence of suitable UV lighting, so they can show their visible core. It can be a different accent, different space or the ‘correct’ meaning. The exhibitions itself is a picture. It is a depiction of the axiom that we remain in the darkness until we see something. This something is always the light.

‘Dorota Borowska’s pictures stem from two different paths of artistic search – the use of fluorescence in painting and her interest in geometry. That combination is the most interesting one because as a result spectators participate in an artistic pact, based on technological change of the principles of its creation, between UV light and darkness” (comment by Ewelina Jarosz- art critic)
