Katarzyna Adaszewska

The artist is inspired by children’s toys but they become in her works a separate matter. She refers to a mess of playing and a common children’s surrounding. She connects toys with cast body or portraits of children. This way the artist shows children’s world, where there is no separation between culture and nature. All actions arranged by children are equally natural – they take care of a leaving animal and a teddy bear in the same way.
„A Souvenir from the Seaside” is one of the artist’s work made of a sand pulp, which brings to mind a sand from the Baltic Sea beach. Sand castle left in the glazed space of the gallery is the children’s dream come true. Beach building which couldn’t endure even one day is kept here. September is a period when children play with their souvenirs from the summer, but in short time they disappear between other toys. The work presented in Wozownia attempts to capture the moment just after holidays, when children’s rooms are full of stones and shells taken from the beach.
